The world's largest independent law students' association ELSA (European Law Students' Association) is an international, independent, non-political, non-profit-making organisation run by and for students, trainees and young lawyers. More than 40.000 members have united at over 300 cities worldwide in order to be active and educate themselves. In Germany there are about 11.000 members spread over 42 cities. The ELSA-Bremen local group organizes events and helps you developing social and intercultural competence and gain practical work experience.
Through its activities and commitment within the international community, ELSA has gained a special status within several international institutions like the Council of Europe and the United Nations.
Moreover, being active in ELSA gives you the unique opportunity to gather together with a broad range of interesting and influential persons.
You can join ELSA-Bremen e.V. by filling in an offline form. The membership fee amounts 9€ per semester. Moreover, you can find us at our office (GW1 building, room B1130) on Tuesdays from 12.00-14.00.

First of all, you will have to become a member of a local ELSA group. Most events are organized by local ELSA groups. ELSA-Bremen e.V. prefers its own members in case the number of participants for an event is restricted. To sign in for an event you simply have to write an informal email to us or you can fill in the relevant application form at our website. If you are a member, you will be regularly informed about upcoming events in our newsletter or by following our Facebook page. STEP means Student Trainee Exchange Programme and is our internship program. To participate in the program a membership in an ELSA local group is required. Do you want to gain international experience? Do you want to work in an international environment and live in another European country? If yes, do not hesitate to contact us. We are looking forward to helping you during the application process.

If you are a member, your work can start immediately. You can decide in which fields and in which scope you want to get involved with our work. We are always looking for support for our projects. Moreover, you can participate on the long term by becoming a Director for areas like S&C (Seminar & Conferences) and AA (Academic Activities). If you like our work and have gained some practical experience you can apply for a job at our board. The ELSA-Bremen board consists of a president, vice president (secretary general), a treasurer and the vice presidents for S&C/AA, Marketing and STEP. However, becoming a member does not oblige you to participate in our work.
Just give it a trial and decide for yourself what you want to do!
We are regretful that you are thinking about leaving ELSA-Bremen e.V. Nevertheless, we want the process to be as simple as possible for you. Simply write an informal email to firstname.lastname@example.org. However, be aware that your membership ends only with the end of the semester. Thus, make sure to resign at least four weeks before the end of the semester.
